The long awaited Flavia and Xade joint post
Flavia waited until Killian was out of sight before she touched her neck, where the wounds had already closed, with only a little blood showing where they had been. She turned her gaze to Xade.
"What should I do? I try to talk sense into him, but he won't listen. Anything I try..." she stopped talking, then shrugged. "I don't know how to keep going anymore."
She went silent again and Xade studied her. In the dim light of the hallway, she could easily have been taken for a frightened teenager, hadn't it been for her eyes, that seemed way too old compared to the rest of her appearance.
Xade sighed, sliding his hands into his pockets. "After a while, you don't think about going on, you just do." He frowned, slowly choosing his words for her. "With Killian... I don't know. I wish I did, but just when you think you know where he's going he'll... change. Maybe... Maybe we aren't meant to know who, or what, he is."
Flavia laughed shortly and stepped back into her apartment. "A while, you say? I've been a vampire for over sixhundred years, Xade, and I find that I think more and more about how I am supposed to go on, the older I get."
She lifted her hand, inviting him in.
Xade's face warmed slightly. "Perhaps you should immerse yourself in material goods. One momentarily becomes distracted by the pretty lights," he jested.
His easy mood changed swiftly as he frowned. "Are you not afraid of me, Flavia da Firenze?"
She shrugged slightly. "I don't fear death - in fact, if you were to kill me, I might even thank you. As for anything else you could do... I don't really care at the moment."
Her fingers once again found the spot on her neck where she had been bitten only a few minutes earlier. "I sound pathetic, don't I? Like the angsty teenager I look like..."
He frowned, taking a step forward to examine the place she kept touching. "No," he answered, preoccupied with her neck. "You sound like a woman who's been raped."
Flavia shrugged and looked away from Xade, out through the dark window. "It's not like it was the first time..."
Xade moved further into the room, tightly leashing his mind and emotions. "You said you lived 600 years ago? It saddens me to not be surprised by that..."
"Years fail to surprise you after a while, don't they?" she replied.
Xade glanced back at her, studying her profile against the window for a moment. "Would you like me to leave?"
She gave a small shrug, still not looking at him. "I don't know. Will you be staying in the city? It was nice to talk..." she trailed off, glancing in his direction for a split second before letting her eyes drift back to the window.
Xade smiled slightly, his marble face warming slightly. "Of course. I'm not about to let Killian tear the city apart, am I?"
"I guess not. Well then, knowing that you'll be around, I think I'll feel less bad about it if I tell you I'd rather be left alone at the moment."
Xade headed towards the door, careful to not make a sound. "In that case, dear Flavia, I am, as they say these days, 'outta here'."
"Very well. I'll see you around," she didn't turn her head or move in any other way, but she still knew exactly when the older vampire left.
He knew me, he knew I would love her more then the waking world. But there was more to it. He lavished affection on her, there is no doubt about that. Perhaps in the end he did it because he was lonely too. -- Louis, Interview With the Vampire

Shaun clung to Vale's neck, his eyes closed in terror. It was exciting, but his fear of falling over-ruled the fun of it. Wind blew cold against his face. Shauntren was just getting into the rythm of it when they began to circle. He ventured to open one eye a little and peek at the ground far below. What he saw caused him to open both eyes wide in wonder.
A dragon! They were circling down to where a dragon was crouching on the ground. Around the huge beast spread a vast area of charred forest. Shauntren could make up vague lines where the foundations of houses once lay. As they decended, Shauntren noted a small black speck, which soon grew into a horse. There were a couple people as well. They ground was coming up fast now. Shaun shut his eyes again until they were safely on the ground.
"Why am I not surprised?" Calleo growled as he looked around at the destruction.
"What happened?" Shaun asked.
"What does it look like?" Calleo snapped. Shaun guessed that this place had been important to him.
"It looks like someone destroyed your home," Shauntren replied frankly.
Calleo glanced at the boy, but said nothing as they walked toward the girl and the dragon the stood nearby, watching them.
"Calleo," the girl said, smiling. "I'm glad to see you. I was worried." Ashlen groaned quietly on the ground behind her. "And," Chetana added, "I think he's dying."
"Who isn't, these days?" Calleo asked, going to Ashlen quickly. He pulled back the cloak that covered the young man and looked at the blood soaked bandage with foreboding. Chetana stepped up behind him, trying to keep Shauntren from looking.
"The bleeding just won't stop," she told Calleo. He nodded as he began to remove the bandages. Ashlen stirred and turned to look at Calleo. His face was deathly pale and damp with sweat.
"The wound will be easy to heal," Calleo said, preparing the magic.
"No magic," Ashlen wispered.
"What?" Calleo asked, his expression somewhere between incredula and annoyance.
"No magic," Ashlen repeated, then fell to coughing for a few moments.
"Are you kidding, or just plain stupid?" Calleo asked. "Or are you even coherant?"
"It could kill me," Ashlen managed to say.
"You know what, buddy?" Calleo asked, leaning over Ashlen and looking him in the eyes. "You sure as hell will die if I don't. Now just lay still. This won't take long." Calleo straightened up and began his work. It was only a few moments before the wound was healed, but Ashlen had already lost too much blood. His breathing was shallow and he seemed to have trouble seeing them. Calleo cursed under his breath and fumbled with his things, looking for a potion.
"No time," Ashlen said hoarsely, trying weakly to lift his hand.
"Just lay still," Calleo told him, an edge of urgency in his voice. "I have it... right... here... Oh, where is it?"
"In my pack," Ashlen whispered.
"Just hold on," Calleo urged.
"No time!" Ashlen said. The tone of his voice caught Calleo's attention and he looked at the dying man. "In my pack..." Ashlen paused to catch his breath. He continued on, but his voice was fading. "... the key... found..... Keep..." A fit of coughing shook Ashlen's body and his lips turned red with blood. "Keep... it... safe..."
"What is he talking about?" Shauntren asked. No one paid him any attention.
Calleo found the small bottle he was searching for and held it up triumphantly. "You're going to be okay," he told Ashlen, measuring out the correct dose. Coughing racked Ashlen's body. Blood began to run from the corners of his mouth, then the coughing stopped. He lay still, staring blankly at the sky.
"Verra be damned!" Calleo exclaimed, setting the bottle down quickly.
Shauntren stepped back quickly. He knew his family was dead, but the full reality hadn't sunk in until that moment. Had they died in pain like this? Tears stung his eyes, but he fought them back. Now wasn't the time.
"Go check his pack. See what he was talking about," Calleo asked Chetana. "And take the boy with you," he added, seeing the expression on Shauntren's face.
Calleo felt Ashlen's pulse. Definantly dead. He cursed again. It was so much easier when they weren't dead yet. He wiped some blood away from Ashlen's mouth.
"Internal bleeding," Calleo said to himself. "That will have stopped now. Hell, it would have anyhow. He's almost bled dry."
Calleo closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they glowed with an azure light. He then proceded in staring at Ashlen’s side, as if looking at the dead boy would bring him back to life. Then, Calleo proced to cast what Shauntren had come to recognize as a healing spell, closing up the damaged blood vessels inside Ashlen’s body.
Shauntren stood next to Chetana as she dug through Ashlen's things. But his eyes were on Calleo and the body on the ground.
"He's dead," Shauntren mumbled to himself. Chetana glanced at him but didn't say a word. She continued to look for whatever it was that Ashlen had been so worried about.
"He just died. Like that. In pain," Shaun said. His eyes glistened with held back tears as he turned to Chetana. "It's that easy, isn't it?"
"What?" Chetana said, startled.
"To die. There's something big out there, isn't there? Something that wants us all dead." Shauntren motioned to the vast burnt area around them. His voice lowered to a whisper. "Did you see the battlefield? It was a great army. Thousands of men. And in one moment, they were all dead."
Chetana stared at him, alarmed by such words coming from a small boy. There was no lying to him. No telling him everything would be fine, that he was safe now.
"That's why we fight," she said. "And why we don't give up."
"Chetana, found anything?" Calleo called. Leading the horse, Chetana and Shauntren returned to Calleo. Shauntren glanced sadly at the body on the ground, then gasped.
"He's alive!"
"Of course. I fixed you up, didn't I?" Calleo said.
"Yes, but..." Shauntren stood and gaped at Ashlen.
"I did find something," Chetana told Calleo.
A faint smile crossed her lips as she held up the object she'd found in Ashlen's pack. "And with any luck, this will aid us."
She held up an object, wrapped in a soft protective cloth. With a flash of brilliant light, the fabric fell away to reveal a silver orb that floated a little above her hand.
"As the ledgends would have it," Ashlen spoke quietly, but his voice was growing stronger. "that is the key to the great weapon Ordersoath."

well, at this point, making a post of vlad and varia is next to impossible, but we can surely get a differant post done
on the note with ashlen and shaun, since they are both mercinarys of some sort, they can both be used in melee combat when needed, wich will be verry soon

Okay, guys. Things that need to happen in the next couple posts:
Varia and Vladimir action... maybe more of just them, or have them join the others. Maybe just some more character developement... Some indication of where they came from and where they are planning to go.
Calleo and Shaun need to meet up with Chetana and Ashlen.
Ashlen is about to die, and only Calleo can save him at this point. Ashlen doesn't like magic tho, so he'd probably put up as much of a fight as he could in his weakened condition. I have some ideas for this part of the post, Stu. I need to talk to you about them.
Chetana still thinks that Calleo is dead in the battle, so that could be interesting when they meet again.
I'm not sure what to do with Shaun at this point. Hopefully he'll be more useful later.
And what about this unknown bad guy? And the chaos egg? Intruige!
Soholia, apparently, is gone. If she returns, she's welcome to join again. Until then, we'll have to play without her.
